On June 24, 2012, at 8:00 am local time, Director of the Galápagos National Park Edwin Naula announced that Lonesome George had passed away. Lonesome George was believed to be the last known individual of his subspecies of Galápagos tortoise. This amazing creature is now considered extinct.

Using giclée fine art reproduction technology, each print includes the Marini Ferlazzo embossment, validating it as an authorised giclée print that conforms to archival standards.
